In addition to the glitz, the fashion runway is where I look to for inspiration and style. When I glance through the runways each season, I mostly feel a sense of awe coming from the creativity expressed with fabric, embellishments and out of this world imagination. Season to season, most runway trends generally catch my attention. Some trends I deem to be irresistible (and I can’t wait to try) while others not so much. This fall was no exception. The few modes that caught my attention had some semblance of vigor, power and unapologetic level of excessiveness.

This post features some of my favorite fall 2018 runway trends and my recent attempt to style them to work.

  • Animal Luxe

Leopard, zebra, cheetah or snake…the animal craze is in and ready to stun this fall. Animal prints are intense styling options. They are definitely not for the faint ‘style’ hearted. And if you’re looking to take on the animal prints mania this fall, the recommendation is ‘the more the merrier’. The ideal way to rock animal prints now is to rock them like you’re a million bucks.

  • Power Plaid

Plaids again? Yes, I know they turned up on the runways last spring and literally every fall but they’re back and even flier than ever. Plaids this season come in a multitude of colors and silhouettes that cater to a diverse audience of boss ladies. The most popular form of plaids for fall are neutral colored pants/skirt suits. And if you’re all for eclectic pieces, you might want to check out asymmetrical plaid skirts this fall (from Mango).

  • Paint me Choco

Chocolate gives flavor and depth to everything. And the fall runway was splattered with so much chocolate that it got me drooling. Considering my dark skin tone, I plan to be in too deep with chocolate this fall. There are tons of chocolate solid and patterned items of clothing floating in high fashion stores like Mango and Zara. If you’d like to get on the choco train, they look lovely styled as monochrome or paired with earth tones.

  • Scarf Prints

The most refreshing and retro of trends for fall 2018 is the feisty scarf prints. Scarf prints are one of the most magnificent style beauties of all time. Scarf prints exude a luxurious appeal for any occasion and I personally feel that they are one of the best runway trends that women across different style types probably find alluring. And scarf prints are a great must have to add to your work wardrobe collection.

  • Clashing Prints

Some trends are just too fab to limit to one season and clashing prints is definitely one of them. The clashing prints trend is easy to achieve and requires pairing different or somewhat similar prints together. Unlike spring this year, the clashing intensity for this fall is pretty severe. Some interesting print combination for work includes animal prints+florals, plaid+abstracts and polka dots+stripes.
