Bright Streaks & Sunshine

The vivids have taken over this summer. If you follow my blog closely, it should be no surprise for me to declare that over 80% of my summer dressing include all or some form of colorful articles of clothing. It sure seems like I’m a one trick pony when it comes to styling with bright colors but I sure love to glitter. To say the least, I am a pretty proud brights geek. Besides the richness that brilliant colors exude, I love that they add vigor to any outfit and compliment my dark skin amazingly. Despite the fact that brights are often suggested as the preferred colors for dark skinned women, they also look nice on women with lighter skin. The simplest yet highly cosmopolitan way of wearing intense colors is to embrace the monochrome mentality.

Monochrome bright outfits look really stunning but not to the level of spinoff inspired monochromatic looks. The monochrome trend already has significant marvel and sophistication that cuts across bright, dark and neutral colors. It emanates a flawless elegance that fashion companies use to flood many magazine pages and runways. But like any mesmerizing fashion trend, there are always better ways to push the fierceness bar, even with monochromatic outfits. A superb way to take single colored outfits from fly to super fly is to fuse solid separates/dresses and accessories with a splash of prominent patterns (like florals or stripes). This week, I styled in blinding yellow pants with a striped blouse with apparent yellow lines.

I’ve included links (highlighted) to available outfit items below the first picture.
