Fashion

Prints, Pleated & Smart

It is not easy to come by modest variations of the most popular and trendy clothes. In comparison to mainstream fashion, not many companies design voguish clothes tailored to the modest fashion audience. In my experience, creating a modest chic outfit usually requires some sort of amendment or customization in order for fashionistas to look up to par. The reality is…composing modest and fashionable looks is a struggle. Every once in a while, I feel overjoyed when I unexpectedly find the ideal clothes that carter to my modest fashion needs. On a more optimistic note, fashion companies are gradually trying to meet the demands of the long-ignored yet significant segment of women that adore chic and modest style.

One of my biggest challenges as a fashionista is dealing with the difficulty of obtaining ideal dress options, especially for work. And by ideal, I mean modest dresses that don’t require consolidation or adjustments. As a Muslim woman, I’d like to have access to sophisticated maxi dresses that I can sometimes wear to the office without having to throw on a sweater/jacket. The heat from layering clothes does not make dressing modestly a breeze. In addition, most maxi dresses online or in stores either look too casual or super dressy. Sometime in April, I was lucky to find an unusually modest yet office suitable maxi dress from Asos. The maxi dress has a casual vibe with floral prints but the pleats/details help make it smart-looking enough to wear to work.

I’ve included links (highlighted) to available outfit items below the first picture.

I’m a project manager by day and a fashionista/style enthusiast always. I have a diverse range of contradictory interests…fashion vs activism, ice cream cake vs spinach salad…but I love & proudly embrace them all.
