Mirror Mirror – Double Down on Details

Dressing chic for work doesn’t need to be a complicated endeavor. As much as I love to rely on certain trends (like neutrals, bold colors and monochrome) for work outfits, my work style is not restricted to just a few fashion themes. With all the limitations in the availability of modest fashion clothing options, I still love to push the ‘fashion’ envelope (lol) with what is readily available. My propensity for style exploration pushes me to focus on mixing simple clothing elements in refreshing ways that meet my style needs. In essence, I frequently have to rely on the not so elaborate things to attain boss-ness.

A subtle yet fierce element great for styling professional looks is clothing details. Details serve three main functions for outfits…they help adorn, add character and enhance fit. The details I particularly adore include but are not limited to elevated shoulders from shoulder pads,  darts on jackets/pants, balloon sleeved blouses, boat neck blouse and applique attached to a skirt/top. I usually love to wear darted clothes to work because of how well structured and fitted they look. This week, I piled up some detail swag by wearing darted pants and an origami embellished blouse.

And if you love what I’ve shared in this post, check out Mango for more head-turning detailed clothing!

I’ve included links (highlighted) to available outfit items below the first picture.

I’m a project manager by day and a fashionista/style enthusiast always. I have a diverse range of contradictory interests…fashion vs activism, ice cream cake vs spinach salad…but I love & proudly embrace them all.
